1940 Marx, Superman Turnover Tank in Original Box
Classic clockwork tin litho toy features a two-dimensional Man of Steel appearing to lift up and flip over an oncoming tank. Complete with original color illustrated box. Beautifully lithographed tank with shiny coppered body, embossed treads, and blue, black and white riveted turret. Two small chrome plated cannons jut out from the front of the turret. Superman copyright and Marx logo are lithoed onto the back of Superman's cape. Box is the correct version with "Superman Turnover Tank" printed on both endflaps. Red, yellow, black and white color illustrations showing WWI era graphics of tank rearing backwards with soldiers in the foreground. Another panel shows tank flipping over barbed wire in "no-man's land" with soldier standing nearby. Size: 4" long and 4" tall when fully upright. Sold: Mar. 2007
